A song written by by E Y Harburg and Jay Gorney in 1930. An angry and powerful comment on the way those who built the railways and skyscrapers and fought in WW1 found themselves on the scrap-heap during the Great Depression. Attempts were made to ban it from the radio by those who felt it was anti-capitalist.
